Hello Johannes, the designs are for a Traveller desert world with mixed tech up to TL9. There are 3% open water and "temperate" temperatures in the polar regions. Towards the equator it gets drier and both the average temperature and the daily variations increase. The terrain are "normal" salt flats, sand deserts, and rugged mountains (where sandjammers don't go). Gravity is probably 0.6, but that would benefit both wheels and skids. There are some people who want to avoid laws on grav vehicles, so they must jury-rig something with cottage industry tech. The last point could explain why there are no wheels -- tires are not easily available, and building iron-rimmed wheels is going to be harder for starship mechanics than building skids.
