- The configuration of the sails on the Hutt Sail Barge tells me that it is
mainly for protection against the desert sun. It looks more like a covered
wagon than a sail boat.

- In the StarWars-Universe, energy seems to be cheap. In a GURPS Space or
Traveller setting, the sail could/would/should probably be used for solar
energy as well. On a desert planet it could be enough to power the contragrav.

- There is a precedent for sailing "in just one liquid": interplanetary solar
sails.
