Hello Eric, at a guess, no if they must dig to search, yes if they have the locations and only have to dig to disarm. If the mines are dug in and not mobile standoff types, which is still up for grabs IIRC. A contragrav HMMWV (an oxymoron if there ever was one) can carry 250 swarms or so. If half are TL13 construction swarms, that is equivalent to 160 guys with picks and shovels. > Would advanced MAD (magnetic anomaly detectors) work too? Multiscanners can be used in MAD mode, too. My bet is on ultrascanners, however. > > * A digger to excavate bunkers, and a dump truck to move > > spoil. No good 3E rules for dump trucks, however. > > With CG, you can use cargo area and bomb bay doors. (E.g., fly over > target area, then drop. (Probably wise to have underbelly skid on the > vehicle anyway). On that note, VE assumes that typical cargo is 20 lbs. per cf, or effectively 40 lbs. per cf for open cargo. The rule implies that the sideboards go up halfway, which might not be right for earth or gravel ... Granite is something like 170 lbs. per cf if there are no air-filled gaps. Effectively 340 lbs. per cf in open cargo. This real-world dumper seems to fit right in the middle, if you assume that the full load is close to the max safe load. http://www.thwaitesdumpers.co.uk/PDFLibrary/Sales%20lit%20UK/444%20-%204.5%20Tonne%20Powerswivel%20-%20UK.pdf OTOH, with contragrav most performance figures depend on drag and thrust, mass doesn't matter. I'm still thinking about a supersonic dump truck :-) Regards, Onno _______________________________________________ GurpsNet-L mailing list <[email protected]> http://mail.sjgames.com/mailman/listinfo/gurpsnet-l
