Hello Kurt,

I'm estimating about 10% payload. So for three triple 16" turrets, it
would have to be 60,000 to 100,000 tons, counting ammo and secondary
weaponry. Compare the A-10 and the GAU-8 -- maybe a nine-gun battery
on the centerline? Or a 16" seven-barrel gatling?

But big guns are probably getting silly, while I was wondering if the
helicarrier was silly or possibly not.

The heli-battleship would be a large air vehicle which is designed to
take direct fire and dish it out. That doesn't have to mean guns. It
could be an aircraft with several hundred points of DR, a big laser,
CIWS mounts, and a battery of monster missiles. By comparison, the
heli-carrier might have CIWS and defensive AAMs, but the offensive
punch is in the aircraft.

Regards,
Onno
