So, is the idea to land the sky carrier on the sea carrier? That would
have to be a really big ship. I'm reminded of the dragon carrier
question we had some months ago.

Or the sky carrier can float, like the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Give
it a boat hull and assume that the fans can be mounted high enough to
stay clear of the water. Then it can do a traditional replenishment
at sea with fuel hoses and ammo pallets. The problem with this is on
the meta-design-level. I'm not just doing the Helicarrier from the
Avengers with the serial number filed off, so I don't want it to swim.

If I have a nearby ocean, why not send a sea carrier to start with?

Preposition a bunch of cargo ships (much cheaper than a sky carrier)
a few days from likely trouble spots -- the sky carrier has enough
fuel and ordnance for the first few days.
