Hey guys, the Booksense has an operating system. When it is turned off, it must continuously check to see if you pressed the time button. It must check to see if you have pressed the power button. If you have set an alarm, it must continuously check the time against your alarm setting to see if it is time to alarm. It is not like a light switch in which when the switch is off, there is no power being used. The clock battery does not handle the operating system functions. You must use battery power to perform these functions. Cliff
