I have some evidence to the contrary. It is my understanding that the 
petitions in which I have been involved have made a difference by acting as 
a catalyst for discussion of the issues and as a rallying point for blind 
community action.  No. Certainly, these petitions aren't very helpful as 
stand-alone actions, but, rather, they're just one of many tools we can use 
collectively as a means of applying pressure on FS to do the right thing.

I see online petitions as feel good things, not providing anything
practical beyond folks getting a sense that they tried to do something.
We're talking about a legal dispute based on some point of law, not a
popularity contest.
