Hi Raj,
Windows key U still brings up narrater. The trick is, that once you
have narrater turned on, it can be wicked hard to turn it off. One
other key they trashed is windows tab to get to the task bar, as I
found out when I tried to show that to a client. I wonder if you can
get it back by turning off some modern task bar options? It's dead
useful. Maybe I will have a look on my sister's machine this weekend.
Best,
Erik

Hi, I agree with John regarding xp and vista.
I have a high-end machine running Vista, and my brother has the same
machine
running xp, and it is amazing to see the difference. Even though
vista is
more secured, it is a pain to worked with compared with xp,
especially if it
is a new user, if I have my way, I will recommend any day xp for a
new user,
and wait for vista to grow-up/mature. Correct me if I am wrong, but
apart
from some crazy changes with applications such as in window mail,
they have
taken away features such as pushing the window key and pressing u
twice to
shut down, and window + u to call narrator which I feel is essential
for us
all at some point. I know many many sighted advance users who
complains and
rage when using vista. So, if security is the issue here, then vista
is the
way to go, but if smooth operation is what one is looking for, then
xp it
is.

Raj

Are you denying the fact that Vista requires a far more powerful
machine than XP?
That was the basis of my advice. What is so bad about it?
Besides, it is widely agreed here that Window-Eyes runs slower on
Vista. It is only sensible to wait a little longer before moving
over to
Vista.

bad advice!
vista is far more secure then xp will ever be.
it prevents root kits from being installed, its startup files do not
load in the same order every time when you boot, makeing it harder
for malware and key loggers to install,
if you run as a standard user most viruses will not install unless
you give it elivated administrator privlages
you don't have this kind of security with xp even with sp3.

Helen
my advice would be to stick to XP, better still, XP Pro. Vista is
still in its infancy and I for one wouldn't touch it with a barge
pole.
I think Dell still supports XP Pro on its business machines.
Vista is extremely resource hungry. If you chose XP you wouldn't
have to spend much on the hardware for an impressively fast system.

Hi,
I am considering buying a new computer. It seems as though most
of them come with Windows Vista instead of XP. I have heard some
horror stories about Vista, that I am hesitant about upgrading to
it from XP. How does vista work with Window-eyes? Any feedback
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Helen
