I have a Dell XPS1530 notebook en route, but my intention is to plug a
standard USB keyboard into it. I figure that would be the easiest way to
deal with the notebook keyboard issue. Of course portability would be
adversely impacted, but I don't intend to take the notebook anywhere anyhow.

I've seen many HP laptops which have a full size keyboard. However, that
does not mean that HP are the only ones who do this. Best thing is to
visit a local computer store and see their stuff so you can check out the
keyboards for yourself.

Can anyone recommend a good source for laptops with standard desktop type
keyboards?
