When you say 64bit machine. Yes, when shopping for a computer you do need to make sure that you aren't getting a 64 bit machine. Here in canada, when I was looking at the computers offered by Future Shop, (a major chain,) all of the laptops that they showed me were 64 bit machines. I was actually quite surprised at the extent to which new machines emphasized 64 bit systems. To me, this indicated the importance of 64 bit compatibility for screen readers. For those who are required to use a 64 bit system for work, the only screen reader that I know of which offers it is System Access. I have never used that program with a 64 bit machine, so this is absolutely not an endorsement, but it is a direction that a person who is caught in the squeeze could investigate while waiting for Window-Eyes to offer 64 bit accessibility.
