Hi David,
Great points below:
I just started a list of features and things we all wanted.
I listed 4 of the things that I would personally like to see.
I don't hold out those 4 items as the top items or of the most important /
only things we should do.
I suggested we start a list to help gw know what we want and need.
I think your items are valid.
But, the first question is who will be the list keeper?
I will help the cause by adding my items and yours since we are the only
ones so far willing to start listing items.
I would like to at some point prioritize the list but, for now let's just
get a list started.
Then we may be able to see wich items will be better supported by gw
directly and wich ones may be delt with with scripting etc.
For example scripting may just be the answer for java.
If we get a list keeper we could all submit items to it and we could decide
what items are the most important.
We may not all agree but, we could at least provide input.
We could also keep track of the progress on items.
For example some apps have set files for them and others have scripts ...
last others have sets and scripts.
We also need some way to decide how well a given app is supported.
We will need to think about exactly how to quantify this but, I do think we
can come up with a productive system if we use our colective smarts.
Any one want to keep the list?
Any one else have items to add that mean a lot to them for work or personal
needs?
Here is the list now:
Quicken,
MS Money,
MS Access 2007,
Rewrite browse mode:
64Bit OS Support:
Java (currently being worked on with scripting).
Speech loss issues.
I was on a private conversation about this and the guy brought up a
fantastic point.
We should break up the speech loss issue in to two parts.
1. How to recover with out sighted assistance.
2. How to get the most amount of info to gw micro.
Remember GW is on our side my friends and they need our help / testing etc.
They can't fix things they can't duplicate or get enough info on.
Our job is to provide them with as much detailed info as we can get.
Last on the list:
and a whole > host of other widely used applications.
Any one up for the oppertunity and the challenge?

I really find it interesting that all of a sudden there is such a push for
64 bit Window-Eyes. And, it seems very interesting that the only ones
really pushing for 64 bit WE are the big techie folks. The problem is that
there is a lot of other things in the 32 bit release that are needed to be
taken care of before running of to tackle 64 bit Window-Eyes.
For those of you pushing so hard for 64 bit Window-Eyes the question is
have you looked to see how many applications will actually work in the 64
bit environment. I think you are going to be very disappointed to find
out that the majority of the Windows XP and Windows Vista applications are
not going to run on 64 bit EWindows.
Instead of insisting on 64 bit Window-Eyes it would seem to be better to
get
a
lot higher number of people than those who absolutely need 64 bit Windows
with the limited number of apps that will work in the 64 bit environment.

Hello.
Someone mentioned support for 64 bit.
Is it getting to the point now where if you go to some of these
department
stores or best buy stores or stores like that you have to double check to
see if the computer your buying is running 64 bit or 32 bit?
I know one thing if there is a company running 64 bit software that nocks
a
blind person right out of a job just simply because they can't use the 64
bit operating system.
That would be ashamed.
Who knows the system and applications could be 100 percent accessible
that
is if you had a screen reader that worked with a 64 bit system.
I don't mean to sound pessimistic but any more I just can't help it.
Some times it is vary discouraging.
By the way the other big screen reader don't support 64 bit either.

Questions About the Direction of Window-eyes I understand your point of
view.
II agree taht the person who is working on java with a script is great
news.
But, what about the 4 issues we mentioned ... can you comment on them?
1. Better way to deal with the loss of speech.
2. You already answered the java issue.
3. Fix browse mode.
4. support for 64bit os.

Hi, Sam. With all due respect, many comments were made regarding
requests
and suggestions for scripts. Was I one of the people who suggested
scripts?
Nope, but what a powerful tool indeed.
As Aaron said, stay uned, smile. Some enterprising author is working on
a
script for java support. I do agree with Cory and hope that a script can
be
incorporated into future versions of Window-eyes.
I responded privately to one of the members of this list for what I
considered to be an unnecessary comment for everybody to read on such a
list
as this.
