1. Much better exceptions dictionary to include beginnings and endings of
words, punctuation, etc. The Dolphine products have always been outstanding
here.
A script that uses a dictionary object, hooks the OnSpeak event from the
active synthesizer, and performs a search-and-replace will get you what
you want. The EloquenceFix script does this, though I can see how
someone else might wrap an entire user interface around the code to make
it very simple to emulate what you want.
2. A CAPS lock as modifier key as a standard choice, though I know there's
a script on SC for something like this.
Correct.
3. Say that again? What I mean is, you've missed a message or something
that pops up on the screen and want to hear it again. The old Speak Out
synth that GW used to make did something like this whereby you could scroll
back through the speech output for the last few dozen words or so.
Jamal Mazrui's SpellIt script does precisely this.
Of course we all want Java suppport so that Open Office becomes an
alternative for us.
Jay Macarty is working on a very impressive set of scripts to add Java
support already.
Yes; all of these would be nice additions to Window-Eyes. However, the
scripting support adds tremendous functionality and potential and allows
the user to control precisely how these new features should work. In
your feature list, for example, a script either exists, or can be
created, to do exactly what you want today. There is no need to wait for
the next release of the product.
Best regards,
Steve
