Steve,

It wouldn't just be the exception dictionary, it would be all the dictionaries as well as the basic Unicode pronunciation file that Window-Eyes uses. There is a script that allows you to easily change profiles. This would be the best way as you could have each profile already setup for the synth and language you wanted, all the dictionaries can be localized to that language along with the charname.ini. So really, you can do what you want today.

Regards,
Doug

Hi Ray,

My other wish for the exceptions dictionary would be to have it
synth-specific. Changing a pronunciation with one synth sometimes ruins it
with another.

All the best

Steve

I'll add on the few occasions I've contacted support Aaran has been very
helpful and gone that extra mile in some cases. It is unfortunate indeed if
anyone on tech support is brusque or not very forthcoming.

Don't know if this is the right place to mention my longstanding wants for a
future
release of Window-Eyes but here is what I want.

1. Much better exceptions dictionary to include beginnings and endings of
words, punctuation, etc. The Dolphine products have always been outstanding
here.

2. A CAPS lock as modifier key as a standard choice, though I know there's
a script on SC for something like this.

3. Say that again? What I mean is, you've missed a message or something
that pops up on the screen and want to hear it again. The old Speak Out
synth that GW used to make did something like this whereby you could scroll
back through the speech output for the last few dozen words or so.

Of course we all want Java suppport so that Open Office becomes an
alternative for us. I for one am not going to pay for the latest upgrade to
MS Office, but a good compatible alternative I could use would be good to
have around.

Reaching beyond the next release, I'm wondering if any way will emerge of
dealing with graphical representations of text on-screen. I have to use a
small local website where the cantanckerous owner refuses to change his
Publisher created website which is, of course, useless to screen readers. Wonder if, via a script or other modification W-E could communicate with OCR
software to resolve this sort of issue on the fly.

All for now.

Ray.

Well, my experience in calling GW tech support has been positive in all
respects. No problems and no complaints about it.

Hi everyone. I have been reading a long discussion of directions for
future versions of WE and tech support , etc. I am more than willing to
spend the money to talk to the experts. Last time I called, I was told
"we can not duplicate your problem"... After several weeks of
frustration, I un-installed Window Eyes and installed the chief competitor
and it has worked perfectly. Same computer, same person doing the
installation, so go figure.

I received no suggestions nor encouragement from Mike to help me install
WE on a new HP notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium. I see that Jim
and others seem to be able to implement nearly all of the features, but
for those of us who are not programmers and have no desire to be
programmers, it can get very frustrating. I am an appliance operator and
my appliance is not working as advertised. I won't waste the money
calling tech support again. thanks

  Sincerely yours,

  Bob Hicks,
