Hi Darren,

Technically, the Smalltalk is not a specialist device, as it is basically
Window-Eyes on an XP Tablet machine, namely the OQO Q1+. All of the OQO
machines I have had so far though, have been extremely unreliable, have
little battery life, and don't have much to commend them.

All the best

Steve

Yes but mainstream is always best isn't it. I mean I'd never go for 1 of
these note taker devices from any company. They're nothing but a waste
of money when you look at what's available on todays mainstream markets.

Hi Cindy,

To my mind, the Netbook is much snappier and in fact, if you put the
Smalltalk in its case, with its external USB keyboard, it is heavier
than a netbook. The small thumb keyboard is so ridiculously small that
it is barely usable for real typing. For browsing yes.

So considering the external keyboard takes one of only two USB ports on
the Smalltalk, my netbook has three, then the old STU is looking less
attractive by the minute. It also doesn't have the battery life, and in
fact, the two Smalltalks I have here, have really unreliable batteries.

So the MSI Wind wins hands-down for me.

All the best

Steve

Raul,

Thanks so much for the info.

If you feel okay answering this, I would love to know the comparison
between the small talk ultra and the net books? Obviously, it depends on
what one wants to do but my main concerns are weight and the smaller the
screen the better (either for no use or depending on the situation only
10 degrees of vision so smaller really is better), and typing ability.

I have a braille connect 12 that I would use with the small talk ultra
probably for typing but my braille speed does not even come close to my
touch typing on a qwerty.

Just interested in people's thoughts on this.

Cindy
