As I've said before, any abusive messages sent to me privately will be sent straight back to the list. You know, With so much hypocrisy you're in danger of turning into a hippopotamus By all means, if you want to delete my messages, go ahead. It'll only be your loss.

It would really be excellent if you and Don could just fight with each other off list. Of course neither of you would be getting attention but hopefully you could live with that. You tend to be the more hostile poster and the one who involves the list. He hasn't been perfect either but he doesn't seem to insist on making everyone read responses when his issue is with you and not the rest of the list. I'm sorry to say in this kind of fighting you can be a bit of a twit. GW has designed the list to minimize this kind of thing and it's disrespectful to all to have squables. I used to read every message from you until you started fighting. Now the delete key is more my friend. If your goal is to have your messages more widely read the public fighting should stop. If your goal is to just fight then the delete key or a rule sending your messages to the dumper may be in order. I hope it'll be the former.

That's exactly the point, Don, just because it doesn't work on your machine it does not necessarily follow that it doesn't work on anyone else's system
and the reverse is also true.
to expect a kind of deterministic behaviour from your average software program on a windows operating system would be as naive as, say, believing in the integrity of an investment banker. Mind you, even with a banker you have a rough idea where you stand. Okay, Don, let's start again and see if we can find you a solution. I don't know why I'm doing this but if you are keen to resolve the issue I'll do what I can to help.
Tell us once again in clear plain English minus all the emotive stuff what it
is you're having difficulty with.
What do you wish to accomplish with the place marker feature?
What websites are you having the problem with?
How does the problem manifest itself?
You get the idea, give us as much info as you can.
Best
Jon

So they work on your machine so that means they work well on all computers? I have read the manual and contacted GW directly and they have been unable to help. I had hoped that other users had found some small tricks to making them work better. But Thanks so much for providing me with such great help. But in the future please save your energy and don't respond to my postings as I am sure a smart person like yourself has better things to do.

but that's where you're wrong, They work on my machines and like most of your posts, don, it is painfully obvious that you are not interested in a solution. However, if you and your mates insist on continuing your Sicilian widdow impersonation contest, shrieking and wailing at the world from dawn till dusk, I shan't stop you. Who am I to deprive the list of a bit of entertainment? <g>

Maybe just maybe you are wrong. The placemarkers just don't work consistently and I had hoped that maybe someone else has found a method for making them more consistent.

Maybe, just maybe, Don, you haven't read the manual and therefore are not applying the feature properly. The place markers require no tips or tricks.

Are there any tips and tricks for getting the place marker feature of WE to work on a consistent basis? I can get the placemarkers set up and seem to work fine but the next time I go back to the web site they work only about half the time.
