Personally, I'd like to see list operators immediately remove anyone from their 
list that cause these automatic annoyance to spread across the face of the 
known universe.

  I've seen them too.  There are people who are out of town and have their out 
of office assistant on in their E-mail program, usually Outlook.  They have 
also failed to unsubscribe from any lists they are on, usually from their work 
E-mail.  I would appreciate it if people would unsubscribe if they are going to 
be out of the office for any period of time which requires them to turn on 
their out of office assistant.  It saves everyone from a few extra messages.  I 
also believe that allowing this to happen is considered bad netiquette but 
can't say for sure.  It seems discourteous to me at least.
