My speech for WE is at 4 and my speaker volume is usually between 6 and 15. The only time I turn the speech way up is when I am using my media player and the popping is usually not there. The popping occurs about every three to six keystrokes and does not seem to make any difference as to what is being spoken. This is a USB keyboard. I do have other problems too, which makes me think it is the soundblaster. Those problems relate to recording. I cannot get enough volume level to make any kind of satisfactory recording from a microphone and cannot record anything at all from my speakers or internet sounds.

Regarding the popping sound, could it be that your voice volume settings, are too high. I had a popping sound with the screen voice with eloquence once, and dropped the screen volume about three numbers down, and that ended that. And also, it occured on certain sylables only anyway, but it was worth knocking down the screen volume.

I also have occasional loss of sound. I feel as though it might be the sound card. Mine is a Soundblaster x fi streme. One reason I think that is because when using Dectalk Access, which comes with Window-Eyes, I get popping that is not there with the Microsoft Anna voice. I don't care much for the Eloquence voice, so I just put up with the popping. Sometimes, it goes away after the computer has been on for a while.

On my machine I've had no sound issues. So it could be specific sound cards.

It would appear that Windows 7 itself has a bug where all sound is lost thus making it seem that WE has stopped talking. When this loss of sound happens you can still bring up the WE menu bar and close WE but a restart of WE does not resolve the problem. The only solution I have found is a reboot of
Windows 7.
There is a small program called microsoftfixit50131.msi to resolve sound issues but I have ran this program and still have had the loss of sound. I think GW is aware of this Windows problem and I hope they are talking with
Microsoft to resolve the issue.
