<grin> Well Chip, this is no "old PC," a quadra AMD 3Ghz processor
with 2Gigs of ram, so I don't think that yet qualifies as an older
one, though it has been recently updated to this configuration, all
that remains of my "old PC" which worked fine with WE and MJ, are the
hard drives and power supply. :) New mother board and processor, just
a month ago when I began having problems? Not sure if it is v7.2 of
WE or some update in the MJ software or not. What is also freaky is
that in Eudora, there is a "Microsoft viewer" for mail we can use
which has no problem with Window-Eyes while running MJ, and yet, IE
is virtually useless.
These computerse will make you crazy!
Why is there no exhibited problem using jfw or nvda and IE and this
configuration? Questions, but curious cats and all that, plus I'd
rather use Window-Eyes and keep my long distance capabilities intact,
but I guess the twain shall never get along on this PC.

Curtis,
I've seen other situations where WE will go silent if there's a high data
transfer going on over the internet. I guess windows must use a lot of
resources when handling a high data rate over the net; and so, I'd guess MJ
is probably the problem in your case (especially so if you have an older,
slower, pc).
Maybe GW could do something by giving the various parts of WE a higher
relative priority, I don't know, but until then I'd say you are going to
have to arrange things as you suggest and not make long distance calls while
using the web. maybe if this is an older pc, you could get a new pc for
your use, and dedicate this one to MJ?
good luck,
Chip

Hi, I found the solution, and it wasn't maximizing the window for the
manual, etc. because the problem was also Internet Explorer 8, but a
suggestion, helped, and that this seems to happen when I am running Magic
Jack, which I also have, and while it is plugged in, Window-Eyes will not
work with Internet Explorer 8 or, even read it's own manual. If I unplug
Magic Jack, all seems to be as it should be, or as it is with Window-Eyes. I
sure wonder ... why now? when this didn't happen before at all, not a
glimmer, what has changed, why, who did the changing, Window-Eyes or the MJ
software which runs their dongle, or whatever that device is called, and why
now perversely affect Window-Eyes in such a strange area.
All other suggestions did nothing, and I did go so far as re-installing
Window-Eyes.
I truly thank the person making the suggestion, greatly, now the question
arises, what do I do now, compromise the use of my long distance calls for
my screen reader, or only make long distance calls when I am not planning to
use the web with my screen reader.
Anyone at GW-Micro have a magic jack and willing to plug in and test, it's
just $20 for a year of free long distance, unlimited, $20 for the device and
$19.95 for the service, so to update the service is just $19.95 per year.
