hello Pele, I'm not sure why your desktop items are not spoken. As long as Window-Eyes is shut down normally then the next time it starts, things should be fine. I am noticing that many of your apps are outdated and you might consider updating them all. You can do this from the Add/Remove apps dialog. Press Alt-U to check for updates and then when the list comes up, press Alt-A to update all and then follow the prompts.
