Hello. When you work with more than one file at the same time, you use
the tab or F3 key to switch between files. In order for the Sense to
switch between files, it saves the one file and opens the second one
when you press F3. So if you removed the source of the file from under
it, the next time yo put it in, there could be corruption because things
may get confused.
Best practice is to not remove a media drive which has an open file from it.

reading the file not making corrections. I loaded a second file from my cf
card, when I left the first file it asked if I wanted to save the file and I
said no since I didn't have the thumb drive at hand. I worked on the file
from the cf drive for a bit then tried to switch back to the other file but
it told me that the format was unfamiliar or something like that and it
wouldn't access the file. When I plugged the drive back in it overwrote the
original file on the thumb drive with the one from the cf drive. Needless to
say I wasn't impressed. Any reason why this should happen. The file didn't
suddenly change formats while I was working on another one surely?
