Hello Joe,
I can't really place a space at the beginning of a line either. But, in the 
scenario you have described, you could do the following: begin writing the 
word that you accidently left out right after the one that is already there 
(i.e. that which ends in cell 32). Afterward, when you have finished the 
word, press the space-bar once. Then just go back and in-between the ending 
of the first word (that which originally ended in cell 32) and the beginning 
of the one you typed that had been left out and press the space-bar to 
insert a space. This is what I would do. It may not be very efficient, but 
it works for me. I hope this makes sense and it helps. All the best,

Maybe I should do this another way to do what I need.  Maybe I should try 
to add a space at the end of the previous line rather than doing it at the 
start of the line.

Sometimes a document has a line which ends on the last cell.  Perhaps I 
had left out a word at that point and it must be inserted at the start of 
the next line.  However there's the start of a word at the start, so I 
need to add a space and the omitted word and of course, another space 
before the original word which was at the beginning of the line.

It's almost impossible to add a space at the end because the last letter 
of a word is in the last cell.  There's no place to add the space there.

Brother!  This is hard to describe so I'd better quit while we're all 
ahead.  Raul could not reproduce my problem, but I hoped someone else had 
the same problem.

The odd thing ist I can occasionally add the space at the start of a line, 
but most of the time I cannot.

Looks like I will just have to live with this.  I know it's quirky.

Okay, dujb question but, if you aren't using hard returns why are you
wanting to add spaces at the start of a line? I did try to do this and 
also
can not add a blank space at the start of a line. I wrote a paragraph's
worth of stuff then tried adding spaces to the start of the last line. I
don't know if it's a hardware issue or just a question of margins.
For example, I'm in outlook express now and typed the above and then 
tried
to add a space at the start of one of the lines, and it wouldn't work in 
oe
either. It seems and I very well could be wrong because technical stuff 
is
definitely not my thing but it seems to me that spaces aren't really
considered characters unless they are proceeded and followed by 
characters
and or hard returns. So using the bsp I added 80 odd spaces to what was
supposed to be the start of a line, instead they were added to the end of
the previous line. This probably doesn't make much sense. Perhaps if you
could explain a little what or why you need to do this we could figure it
out. It's intriguing anyway.

I never use a hard return in a document unless it's the start of a new
paragraph.

I usually proof in ASCII but as per your suggestion, I changed from ASCII 
to
Drade 2 with the same results.  I  could add a space at the start of a 
line.

Today when I started writing, I loaded my document and I could add a 
space
with no problem.  I went to any line and was able to add a space.  I also
found that, after I was writing for a while, it was no longer possible to
add a space at the beginning of a line.

I cannot account for this.  It's great when I can reproduce an error, but 
I
can't do it.

Maybe this will suggest a curefor this problem.  I can add a letter at 
the
start of a line, which makes this a strange problem.
