I am going to step in and defend Tony. Notice that only the people who are
complaining have done nothing to step up for club and help, with the
exception of Dale Brown, whom I admire and respect for how he has grown the
cycling community in Greensboro. Tony and a handful of others are trying to
provide a friendly and safe cycling community and if that means having
waivers to protect themselves then I respect that too. No one else was
jumping up to be president or organize the weekly and weekend rides. Thank
you Tony (and Dale) for everything you have done for the cycling community
here in the triangle and for supporting your sponsors.

As for the "Trek Rides," when were they ever removed? They will be on our
Google calendar AND are open to the public AND will still be listed on the
"NEW" Gyros googlegroup. If you are so concerned about these rides, why not
offer to lead to help keep them going?

I have personally watched how much time Tony has put into this club and most
of you don't even know the half of it, so before you complain, I challenge
you to come spend a day with Tony and see what it takes to run the Gyros. I
am proud to have Tony on our staff and wish we had more like him. Thanks
again Tony.

It's unfortunate for the club that they got forced in this direction.

There was absolutely nothing to be gained. You've split the cycling
community so a self-appointed president can have insurance, and waivers and
a race team. You've even managed to privatize or remove the "trek rides".
Good job with that.

I live in Myrtle Beach, but while dating my wife, who lived in Raleigh, I
did a fair amount of riding with the Gyro's. I was always impressed by their
welcoming nature and good, well-organized rides. It seems things have
changed. Careful that you don't collapse under the weight of your own
self-importance. You may unsubscribe me.
