I fully agree with you. We had a big club back home in Greenville S.C. 
www.greenvillespinners.org You do not have to be a member to participate in any 
of their weekly rides. You can see their rides clearly on the website. This 
allows people who are new to cycling or who are looking for a weekly ride to be 
able to find one easily. This new format the gyro's have gone too is not new 
rider friendly. It is not friendly at all in my opinion!
