Hi Kimberley,
I know these kind of people in silk fabric shops. When i went to the special silk fabric shop we have here in Denmark, i was aware that the prices was huge. But i had saved a lot of money from a trip to Portugal, and had a lot left when i got home. I aimed to use these money in this shop. They had never seen me before so i also got a strange look when i arrived. But you should have seen their eyes when i ordered 7 meters of the sky blue duchesse satin i made the suit for. Bad thing is that i never will forget those lovely other fabrics they had, and i am afraid that i have to go back for more some day................

Subject: Re: [h-cost] Bengaline (was Good News)

Well now, I am thrilled to have been set straight. Back in the dark ages,
after I made my first gown, I went to a high end fabric store here in town and
asked if they had any silk bengaline, because I had heard that it was also
available in "real" silk. When I got to the store and asked the clerk if they had
any bengaline, she snipped at me that they did not carry any lower end
synthetic fabrics. She curled her lip and suggested that I try someplace like JoAnn's, the condecension thick in her voice, so I never looked into the matter further. Thanks to everyone for the info. I will post some links to me in a
couple of my bengaline gowns when I get a chance.

:)
