I second that.  Also note that you don't need to mark the hem at the
exact place you want the hem to be.  You can mark where the garment hits
the floor, or, what I find easier, about 12.5 inches (one ruler length)
above the floor.  This gives you a line that will be horizontal when the
garment is worn, so you can add or subtract from that to get the length
you really want.
