Careful with this method though. When you put it inside out, the right side ends up on your left and vice-versa, so if you're even slightly lopsided (most of us are) your hem will end up longer on one side than on the other.
One important thing to remember too... the only way to be sure it's straight is to iron the fold, pin or baste temporarily, put the dress back on and look at yourself. Some fabrics stretch in weird ways and what looks straight when you mark it will end up looking weird when you wear it.
