making a midcentury dress for this year's Christmas choir concert. Using one of
the McCann patterns, I have chosen a Civil War quilt print fabric. While of
cotton, the "hand" is very silky...purple nosegay of small roses on a tan
background that also has a watermark streak through out. I have modified the
neckline to feature a real lace bertha from my collection. Bodice will be boned
and piped as for an original. I will be facing the hem of the skirt with a
contrast of about 12"; this based on skirts of the period that I have or have
seen elsewhere. Fitted muslin bodice was completed yesterday.
Since I am now officially retired, first time in years I have had time to do a
gown for myself!

Subject: Re: [h-cost] What's your dressmaker's dummy wearing?I just finished a
papier-mache full-head jack-o-lantern
mask/headpiece, which got packed for the event tonight. Also just
packed is the item containing 7 - 3 foot tall satin stitched
appliques, some of which also have fabric painting and other
modification. Hubby's worktable just produced a tunic and
soft-sculpted palazzo pants, and a whole mess of pumpkin leaves and
vines. After this weekend I'll let you in on what it all is and what
happened with it.
