The logo is the brand. It's the thing that should be instantly recognisable no
matter which website you are on, whether it's the project site or not.

You don't just muck with a brand and "hope" it will do. It's the thing people
imprint on and most well known brands try and lock in a design ideal for
years at a time.

Ford's oval logo has existed for years, Coca Cola's logo has evolved over time,
but the same basic glyph styles have remained. It's why you can look at a
bottle from 40 years ago and it's still clearly the same brand.

Even the Wordpress logo has retained the 'big w' look and it changes the UI
nearly every other release. I would suggest the current logo is best kept as
it is until a clear successor is built.

Perhaps evolving the logo is an option, whereby the symbol replaces the first
letter in Habari - but again that really should be done only if there is a clear
problem with the current logo.

I know it's all the rage to go to a textual logo and pull a web 2.0 look, but
it should never be at the expense of the brand. A lot of people are now
questioning changing out from Wordpress because it's forever changing core
elements without warning.

People are tired of change-for-the-sake-of-change and doing just that, by
yanking the current logo and futzing with new ones without clear direction
would, imho, send a very confused message.

If we don't know what the brand and product should look like, why should
anyone even look at us?

Just my 3c.

Best,

Brendan.
