I find the subject line of this thread confusing. In what sense are we  
fighting wordpress.com? They're a great service, they provide a  
greatly needed role, and they do a good job at it.

Anyways, Arthus said very eloquently what I was going to say. Our  
license permits this kind of thing. Someone should do it. But it  
should not be something official done by the development community. On  
the other hand, if someone does it, I expect that they would become a  
major contributor, simply to keep up with customer requests.

It strikes me that, while I wish Matt enormous financial success,  
there's a pretty clear conflict of interests between the same person  
running wordpress.com and wordpress.org that I'd really not like to be  
part of replicating here.
