I thought it might be useful to post some remarks made on IRC, to
further clarify my thoughts, and so that I'm not seen as merely being
an obstacle:

<morydd> DrB can I ask why you voted 0 if you are opposed to
incorporating rather than -1?
<DrBacchus> Because I believe that people who say something can't
be
done should get out of the way of the people who are doing it.
<DrBacchus> If someone actually ahs the time and energy to do this,

it could turn out very well.
<DrBacchus> If not, then it will be a HUGE time sink, as well as
notifying the IRS of our existence and so making us susceptible to
fines and fees that we wouldn't otherwise.
<DrBacchus> But, IANAL, YMMV, BYOB, EIEIO.
<morydd> I thought voting 0 meant no strong opinion
<DrBacchus> Yes. I don't feel strongly enough about it to be an
active obstacle.
<DrBacchus> Because clearly there are people who have the energy to

pursue it, and so perhaps they'll have the time to maintain it once we
have it.
<DrBacchus> I, on the other hand, don't want to be the treasurer,
nor
responsible for the tax filings.
<DrBacchus> And once you're a 501, you have to hold every decision
up
to the light of "will this endanger our non-profit standing"
<morydd> (my questions pertain more to the voting process than
to the
subject)
<DrBacchus> Whereas before we can throw parties for ourselves with
the proceeds of sponsorship.
<DrBacchus> Yeah, -0 means expressing an opinion, but not actually
casting a vote.
<DrBacchus> It's like abstaining, but making it clear that you're
opposed.

and also ...

<morydd> so you are opposed enough to state your oblections on the
list but not enough to actually vote?
<DrBacchus> Well, yes, because either way, I'm not going to be the one
doing the work.
<gsnedders> I guess seeming this is a non-technical issue, -1 is not a
veto, actually.
<DrBacchus> If there are in fact people motivated enough to do the
work, then I shouldn't get in their way.
<DrBacchus> It's not something that is going to just happen because we
vote for it.
<DrBacchus> Someone has to do the actual research and work.

you do it.
