I agree, but if we think that MT will come soon we should release a
beta4 not an RC.

Hi,

I really do not care, if it will be 1.0 or 0.1 release, but I want to have a stable release ASAP and SVN open for new features. I'm waiting for this for half a year, and I do not want to wait one more year.

I guess implementation of the final version of MT will be available in a year or more. I know Przemek has most of MT code ready, but we have not decided which resource (PUBLICS, work areas, etc) should be global and which thread dependent! Some things are in stage of discussion! The final MT tuning will take some time. We will have to find some not trivial bugs, because MT bugs hard to detect. There is no stable self-contained bug samples.

So, let's do a release now, or we will not have it for two more years.

Best regards,
Mindaugas

P.S. I see some people are chasing for version numbers: 1.0 now, 2.0 multi-window GT, 3.0 MT, etc. I prefer more conservative way of versionning: 1.0 now, 1.2 multi-window GT, 1.4 MT, etc. (1.1, 1.3, etc, versions to be used for development/SVN code). Otherwise we will get version 8.0, 9.0, 10.0, 11.0 quite soon. My personal feeling about products having version 0.8.6 is better, than about 11.0 SP2 products. Conservative version numbering makes me feeling product is steady/solid. Version 11.0 looks like 10.0 + one bugfix, and a possibility to get upgrade money from customers. 11.0 is more .com, 0.8.6 is more .org. I hope we are .org.
