In this case, I think you're okay. You might review the code to see if the platform dependent parts are properly guarded (e.g., by checking ^%ZOSF("OS")) if you really want to be sure, but this is Kernel code, so platform dependencies should not come as a surprise.
The bigger question is: What is the best way to handle this type of situation. A relatively simple (but crude) solution would be to include compiler pragmas in the language standard, so that attempts to compile platform specific code can be avoided. Another approach might be to define a foreign language interface (FLI) and distribute the platform specific code separately. Yet another approach (not necessarily a desirable one) would be to create separate distributions for each platform.
