Ismet, I get the impression that the HUI has some extra cool features
that the FOIA release doesn't have. For example, it has a large
number of drugs ready to go. But which ever version you start with,
one will have to constantly apply patches to stay up with the current
VA version. I guess I am saying that I think that either option would
be OK, but the HUI is probably easier to get going with.

I think you mean an installer and support person. I think there are
many of those, if you put out a request for proposal (RFP).

I tell you, this is a tempting option. After hearing Rick's lecture
about the importance of keeping up with patches, and with realizing
how far behind I am, it would be sure nice to have one central person
who has applied the patches for me automatically (and also for all
their other customers at the same time -- the effeciency of sharing a
resource). It comes down to whether you want to be in charge or not.
If you are, the buck stops with you. That can be a mixed blessing :-)
But I have been quite happy with my VistA for over a year now, with
no major problems. Of course, I never planned to bring more than a
very small portion of VistA up... we just use its progress notes
capability.
