On recent builds that worked for you?

I'm looking for a decent motherboard that will last awhile.
MSI K8N Neo4/SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard looks like a good choice since MSI seams to have a dual core upgrade path. > http://www.msicomputer.com/msiapps/SLICampaign.aspx

I have the non-SLI model and a dual-core Athlon 64 X2. Absolutely love it.

Jin-Wei had this suggestion for processor
"4) Cheap - get a Venice 90nm 3000+ and go wild with the OC'ing
(my old Socket-754 3000+ still OC'es pretty nicely)"
What kind of cooling?

You can do stock. The Venice 3000+ I had in this machine before I bought the X2 did 2.7GHz with the stock heatsink/fan.

PCI-E video that will allow SLI down the road. I'm looking at a refurb from newegg... Leadtek WinFast PX350 TDH Geforce PCX5900 128MB 256-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card I'm not interested in paying much for a video card. I don't game that much since most of it moved to the console.

The 5900 will run a bit warm...might want to consider a more modern part like a GF 6600 or ATI X300.

Memory... 1 gig good stuff with out the "overclocker" "high performance" tags that wants a premium price tag.

I'm a huge Corsair whore. I don't buy their extreme overclocker stuff, but stay away from (any) value grade stuff as well.
