Well it's a Dell, order replacement media from them would be my guess. There are
other "ways" of getting what is legitimately supposed to be with the laptop.
Go for the 1GB if cost is a barrier to full 2GB upgrade. Anything less than 1GB is
just not worth running, esp. on a laptop.

agreed but there isn't a disk, that I am aware of. Just the windows
restore with a hidden 5GB partition which I assume is the original image
file. I assume, I'm asking here, that I start up the windows dell
recovery and it it restores the original image file, which means when I
boot up it should ask me for user, registration and password
information, ... unless it takes that from the existing setup... does
anybody know?
Better would be replace original SODIMM for 2GB, the max.
yeah I saw that myself earlier but new DDR is just too damn expensive
right now, hell I just paid 22 bucks for 2GB of DDR2 for my
Thinkpad,...which is why I inquired for used, and she doesn't really
need it as much as it would just make things run smoother
