Hi Guys,

If you want get a visual handle on the air flow pattern inside your 
computer, remove the access side panel and replace it with a clear 
plastic sheet.  Cling film works well, though I use 3mm clear 
plexiglass.  Use a Joss stick (cigarette if you're a smoker) and watch 
where the smoke is sucked in and the flow pattern produced from the 
various intakes.  You will probably notice that you get a wedge of 
fairly static hot air at the top rear of the case and above the HDD.
There are lots of case designs about but none have vent holes in the top 
or very to edge.
