Picked up a couple of WD Black 2tb drives a couple of months back,

No comment. Noises are noises differently for all of us. Hard to judge
ATM. JMO WD drives make more noise than Seagate.
Normal for these big drives or should I make sure I have replacements
in stock ? even though prices have almost doubled since I bought
these. I basically took a system drive and a data drive (and their
backup drives) and moved them to separate partitions on the new
drives. Noise bothers me. Short WD diagnostics say all is OK. Am going
to run the extended tests when I get a chance.
I have read this 3 times. I know you know what you are doing. I do not
get it. Back-Forth stuff is always trouble for me.
on a unrelated side after removing two drives off the PSU my video
problems seem to have gone away. Perhaps a power issue. PSU is a
Seasonic 650watt
OK. But using 'what' hard drive? I believe you have a sagging PSU.
Perhaps video card is being greedy. Or, the HDs are just greedy.
Or? Recall years back we had a simple add-it-up formula to figure a
pending PSU load. Not certain this works any more.
Can not really know what 'stuff' we have now at any given moment. USB?
HDMI? 1394? SPID? Whatever...... :)
I have to believe any of it needs to burn trons.
We do so much more now! And, this 'so much more' may be having an effect
on our old 'load' calculations. JMHO.
I know I am confused. Personally, I load a PSU to no more than 60% of
its' labeled value.
I know; what a waste? No good answer ATM.
For sure, something in the client is burning trons way beyond its'
claimed spec. My Seasonic's have much better ability
to deal with short-term power grabs (Thanks, Greg!). Maybe new/current
games put more grasp on video card tron needs?
Maybe the m/b is having 'tron-feed' issues? So many possibles.
Happy New Year!
