Does the power supply have multiple 12 Volt rails? Maybe too many hard
drives on the same rail? Or too much draw on one particular rail?

on a unrelated side after removing two drives off the PSU my video
problems seem to have gone away. Perhaps a power issue. PSU is a
Seasonic 650watt
