Publicly I would like to state, I feel very misunderstood. I know that all communities are different. I went to camp at OSRUI, a Reform camp in Wisconsin, one year and was surprised that they kept Kosher when I was 9 years old. I think you are misunderstanding my statement and question. I am not trying to stereotype all Jews as one way. I just grew up using the term Old Testament without thinking about it since Jews are a minority, and many of them have intermarried and find it normal to attend Catholic schools for college in my city any way. It happens that everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and view point when biases are concerned. I know that old and new refer more to being christian than Jewish I was merely referring to how to designate the Jewish creation in RDA according to their rules and not necessarily the Jewish politically correct rules, just as much as Jewish libraries still use the Dewey decimal system anyway. I feel like this conversation does not need to go any further and I already got a proper answer from others.

The synagogue really didn't keep Kosher. It would be impossible to forbid people from bringing in baked goods from non-Kosher bakeries in the area, without any Kosher restaurants. I think the Reform community just gravitates towards calling the Bible the Old Testament and New Testament in our region without thinking about any other way of saying it. The amount of Hebrew we learn is very minimal compared to more religious synagogues. So it seemed natural to not think about saying anything else in a religious discussion, but calling the Bible the Old Testament. Even the word Chumash has been very foreign and unheard of to me until I was 21, although Tanakh is obvious and we would use that besides the word Torah because we would get the JPS Tanakh and not the Chumash. (i.e. testamentum) So the point is that the use of the terms Old and New Testament reflects a supersessionist/replacement theology, a bias against Judaism - the assertion that Judaism's covenant is the old one, and has been replaced with a new one.
