I only brought it up because I would want some term used in a catalog to distinguish between a Jewish version of Genesis and a Christian publication of Genesis that would be an official term, knowing that items have to be cataloged according to Anglo-American tradition in English.

RDA no longer labels it as Old Testament, just Genesis, Bible. I never put the words "old" with "testament" side by side when referring to the Tanaj. First because I can't figure out who is "testifying" in the Tanaj and, second, "old" is relative. To what exactly does the "old" refer... to? When a Spaniard hears "old", what usually comes to mind are the terms: out-of-date, useless, recycle, not with the times, better left dead and buried, and "the stuff that came before something better came along", etcetera ..., which in Spain is how "old" is perceived when referring to the "Old Testament" or anything else considered "old". I prefer to think about the word "old" as little as possible as this attitude towards "old" gets my wand all in a knot. For a synagogue library, which is what I have, Tanaj is Tanaj. In the title of some Jewish books, the word "Bible" or "Genesis" (for example), is used maybe to capture a broader audience at Barnes&Noble, maybe because that's how the garden-variety everybody knows it, jewish or not (not all that important). Thus, in the card catalog, the title is the title with an anotation that this particular book is from whatever point of view. But, when it comes to the subject card, I always put a comma followed by "Tanaj" or "Biblia (Christian)". Come to think on it, though, someday I might want to rethink the aphabetical order.... or not. Anyways, around this popsicle stand, if somebody can't find something, they prefer to use the Heidi Estrin "Ask-the-Nice-Lady-System of Cataloging", i.e.,. There's the Nice Lady, go ask, she'll know: Biblia (Cristiana) Genesis (Bereshit), Tanaj Genesis (Bereshit), Jumash Genesis, Biblia (Cristiana) Jumash Tanaj Tora Tora, jumash Convention is upon us.
