One might argue that the "Bible" is not a work (no matter whose definition one uses) but rather it is a genre, and that if we were intellectual purists (which we probably shouldn't be), then:
1. Biblical literature would be a 655 form-genre heading 2. A given biblical book would get a uniform title based on the book, and a 245 based on the work in hand 3. Information pertaining to whose versions the book is (Protestant or Catholic, Jewish or Christian, Haredi or Reform) really a subjed determination about the book and should be expressed in the 6xx fields. While this approach would actually solve cataloging problems, it would create horrible howls of anguish. In the title of some Jewish books, the word "Bible" or "Genesis" (for example), is used maybe to capture a broader audience at Barnes&Noble, maybe because that's how the garden-variety everybody knows it, jewish or not (not all that important).
