This is not only possible, it is even trivial. On openoffice.org.il you can
find an add-on package for the standard (English) OpenOffice which adds
Hebrew spell-checking (both English and Hebrew spell-checking continue to
work, and you don't even need to choose between them). It is very easy to
add on, and it is even easier if you have Fedora Core 1 or 2 (you can find
RPMs that add the Hebrew spell-checking near the bottom of:
 http://www.ivrix.org.il/projects/spell-checker/download.html)

The Hebrew spell-checking in OpenOffice is done using Hspell, the free Hebrew
spell-checker written by myself and Dan Kenigsberg (see
http://www.ivrix.org.il/projects/spell-checker/). The adaptation to OpenOffice
was done by Alan Yaniger of TkOS.

Hspell is GPL, and OO is LGPL (or something like it), so Hspell cannot be
included inside OpenOffice. However, OpenOffice *can* include the code that
uses a previously installed copy of Hspell, and/or a seperate Hspell-support
add on can be distributed (like is done now). Users won't mind too much to
install both "OpenOffice" and the additional "OpenOffice-Hebrew" addon to
get the full Hebrew support (plus, Swedes, Americans and Germans won't need
to waste space on their disk with the Hebrew stuff they don't want).
