Hi Josh :) This is the first time I've read my 'help-cfengine' mail folder in a very long time, so forgive me if I'm behind the times. But I saw my former coworker Josh's post (hi Josh!) and thought I'd chime in briefly: I've used Subversion to maintain my canonical cfengine directory tree, and it worked quite well for me. I even used Subversion's 'create me a working-directory copy of the repository' function to distribute the cfengine files to the clients. This too worked very well for me. I should disclose that my job has taken me along a different path, and I haven't used cfengine or Subversion in about a year and a half. That said, were I to want a cfengine or cfengine-like system, I'd strongly consider using Subversion to maintain all the files -- cfengine config files, ancillary scripts, and files to copy to the client.
