For me the mailing list is fine, but maybe because I am using a gmail account exclusively for this list; gmail orders messages by thread and you can perform a search easily and choose which thread you are interested on.

On the other hand a bbs is more appealing, you can handle graphics and photos better, etc.

For me by now the mailing list is fine, but wouldn't mind the bbs, would still need my weekly dose of hg posts!!.
