Oh Collin, this could be an question that is answered in 200 different
ways. So, first start by telling us what you have now, whether you play gut
or nylon or metal, what sound you like and if you use wound strings on the
melody. Basically it is best to list what you have and the answers will follow.

various players say "I like this or that string or size" it will work as a

I personally use a .97 on the melody for the G and a 1.04
on the trompette both natural gut. I have not yet had a need to replace the
heavier drone strings so I am not much help there. Keep in mind that the core of
the larger drones is something that you need to keep in mind as well not just
the overall diameter.
That should make it easy......right. Sorry I couldn't make it
