a 15 year old block is much to old to be usefull anymore.
This is because block rosin is drying over the years, it contains a
number of substances which evaporate, it gets harder and more brittle.
So by a new one every year or so (you can share it with someone) and
keep it in a closed box. I personally prefer "Pirastro Goldflex" or the
Bernardel violine or the Nyman cello one, but everything is better than
a 15 year old one.
