Alluette is easy to play has plenty of scope or trompette and has a nice
French feel to it (naturally) an was the first tune I learned on mine.
You may need a helper for the actions though!

Lots of nursery rhymes work well on the hurdy gurdy. I often play them at
street fairs in a highly ornamented style, then simplify until the kids eyes
light up as the recognize the tune.

Old Macdonald had a farm (can be a good chien workout)
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (or Baa Baa Black Sheep if you prefer... :-)
Pop Goes the Weasel
Mary Had A Little Lamb

these pop to mind immediately, I think there's probably a few more that
would work for you.

                   Dear All,

I’m looking for some songs, ideally with simple tunes which are
gurdiable, which I can sing with my young daughter. She is very good at
learning words, sp long as they’re not too complicated. Could anyone offer
some suggestions?

   Jacqueline

Oh Collin, this could be an question that is answered in 200 different
ways. So, first start by telling us what you have now, whether you play gut
or nylon or metal, what sound you like and if you use wound strings on the
melody. Basically it is best to list what you have and the answers will
follow.

Although, this is not the definitive list of strings and various
players say "I like this or that string or size" it will work as a guide.

I personally use a .97 on the melody for the G and a 1.04 on the
trompette both natural gut. I have not yet had a need to replace the heavier
drone strings so I am not much help there. Keep in mind that the core of the
larger drones is something that you need to keep in mind as well not just
the overall diameter.

That should make it easy......right. Sorry I couldn't make it easier.
For direct questions I differ to the Mathematical genius of Alden for the
hard questions.
