I recommend that you:
- avoid piezo microphones. You will never be quite happy with them. 
- use some small personal mixer to plug in and adjust your sound. From that 
only one cable goes to the main mixer -or what ever system you are using. You 
can get your personal monitoring from that mixer too with active speaker or 
headphones (for tuning). I have a reliable work-horse, Yamaha MG 10/2. I have 
tried better and more expensive, but so far this has worked very well.
