One of the top makers of renaissance reed woodwind is Eric Moulder in the
UK. I know his curtals are among the best. He makes Rauschpfeifen as well
but I have not heard or played these and I don't know if he makes them in G,
but playing an F instrument in G is really not difficult. You can contact
him by email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

However, rauschpfeiffen are extremely loud and then a sopranino!. Do you
really want that??? A spanisch shawm in F or G or even better an early
(medieval) shawm could be a better match and can have a much larger range
with a good reed and sufficent good player. Some time again I tried a lovely
medieval alto shawm (in G or F?) made by John Hanchet (
www.hanchet-woodwind.co.uk). I would consider something like that. Good
luck!

 Greetings all,
I'm thinking of buying a Rauschpfeif. I have very little experience
with reed instruments. Can someone recommend a maker (I'm in the US)
I know this is a HG list, but I figure a number of people must play with
these noisy instruments as well. Does anyone know anything about this
maker? (Link below) He seems to make rauschppfeifs in G which would be
fabulous with my D-G gurdy. Unfortunately, his site is in German, which
means my understanding is pretty limited to pictures and words that look
similar to English. Any recommendations regarding playing and buying a
rauchpfeif would be appreciated.
