100% true. Plus, forums are targeted depending the subject you want. It's easier to follow. There is nothing you can't do on forums.

They could surely create a user-list but they won't probably listen to it
and you won't get any answer...
So better to switch to the forum ;)

I stand corrected. Apparently you can get email from the forum. However,
the fact still remains that there is a demand for a users mailing list
- - -- as evidenced by the constant stream of posts to *this* list on
hibernate user topics.

Is there any good reason *not* to have a users mailing list? It is
searchable from the web, just like the forum. And I said before, the cost
to create a users mailing list is essentially nothing, and no one has
suggested a reason why not. And it's not as if there isn't a precedent:

Gentoo has forums and user lists:
        http://forums.gentoo.org/
        http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/lists.xml

python has forums and user lists:
        http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo
        http://www.python-in-business.org/

winmerge has user and dev lists AND user and dev forums
(winmerge is in the top 10 most active sourceforge projects)
        http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=13216
        http://sourceforge.net/forum/?group_id=13216

openWFE has user forums and lists (also in the top 10)
        http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=54621
        http://sourceforge.net/forum/?group_id=54621

It seems like there's a constant stream of folks posting to this list who are actually looking for a users list. Presently, they are redirected to the forums, but the forums aren't really equivalent to a users list. In particular, if you post a question to the forums, you are not notified when someone else posts an answer; with a mailing list, answers just show up in your inbox.

Given the apparently high demand for a user mailing list, I'd like to humbly suggest that the dev team create one. I assume that there's not much cost to creating, say, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
